Tỏi bóc vỏ băm nhỏ. Ớt sừng và ớt chỉ thiên thái nhỏ. Ngò rí rửa sạch, thái nhỏ. Cà tím rửa sạch cắt khúc ngắn khoảng 5cm, chẻ đôi rồi cho vào tô lớn, đem đặt vào nồi hấp cho chín mềm.
Cà tím hấp chín xếp vào tô cho đẹp mắt. Trong tô lớn khác trộn đều hỗn hợp sốt gồm: ớt, ngò rí, tỏi băm, 1 muỗng canh dầu ăn, 1 muỗng canh nước tương, 1 muỗng canh dầu mè, 2 muỗng cà phê giấm, 1 muỗng cà phê muối và 3 muỗng canh nước sôi, khuấy cho tan gia vị. Sau đó dội nước sốt vừa trộn lên cà tím là có thể dùng.
